When Lakeside School decided to move forward with a new micro-school model of education near the Seattle Center, they asked Kirtley-Cole Associates to join their team. Together with Public47 Architects, the team has completed a beautiful new facility for The Downtown School.
The 15,558 SF project was completed within a 2-story building originally constructed in 1927. The historic structure remained as crews completed a tenant improvement to create 7 classrooms, support spaces, restrooms, and a large common area. One of the classrooms is a science laboratory with fume hood, lab stations and eye wash station. The project also included new LED lighting, HVAC system, and restrooms. In the large common area downstairs, our team removed a drop ceiling and carefully restored the coffered ceilings to their original beauty.
